WE Rock EVENT 1: Globe, AZ. 2006
What an improvement over last year! If you recall, we had
to contend with pouring rain, rapidly flowing water through the majority of the
courses and mud, lots of mud! We couldn't have asked for better weather to
wheel in. The sun was shining, the climate was warm and the spectators
covered the event area. W.E. Rocks, once again made great progression from
a spectator standpoint. The concessions were easily accessible, as well
as, the vendors.
We pulled an all nighter on Friday leaving California at 1:30AM, unsure we would
even be able to compete. Our New, Honda 3.5L motor fired for the first
time at 5PM on Friday by the graces of the wonderful crew at AEM. They had
turned off the VTEC, programmed a motor shut-down temperature of 210º
and set limitations so we couldn't blow the motor before it was tuned. We
pulled in to tech on Saturday around 8:20AM. Once teched, we proceeded to
tech to complete the throttle cable, putting nitro in the shocks, as well as, a
number of other small pieces that were needed to complete the puzzle. We
pulled to our first stage at 10AM, second out of the shoot, hoping the car would
perform.
We were not disappointed. Nemesis did extremely
well for her first time on the rocks. Ron managed to keep the car on her
wheels the entire weekend: A first in seven years! With some seat time and
fine tuning, Nemesis will live up to the expectations we have for her!
After the W.E.Rock Globe event Melanie took the
car to Easter Jeep Safari in
Moab, UT. She finally got to play with one of the race cars and get some
seat time.
